Jane Wainwright


Jane is from Derbyshire. Her newest play, JINNY, was commissioned by Derby Theatre. She is currently developing a new TV pilot as part of the Channel 4 Screenwriters Scheme and her first radio play, WIDE OPEN SPACES, will be aired on BBC Radio 4 in early 2017.

She was previously one of the writers on Tamasha’s ‘Schoolwrights’ scheme where she wrote HOW I SKINNED MY SISTER and LEFTOVERS [Rich Mix and Soho Theatre], which went on to headline the first Milan Teen Writing Festival in Milan, along with her play CONCRETE SUPERNOVA [White City Youth Theatre in association with Bush Theatre].

Her first play BARROW HILL premiered at Finborough Theatre and her other plays include PHOTOS OF YOU SLEEPING (runner up in the PapaTango New Writing Competition) and IN WORLD (Rehearsed reading as part of Vibrant – A Festival of Finborough Playwrights, Finborough Theatre). Her short plays include THE TASTE OF US OR PINOCCHIO GETS LAID (HighTide Festival/Pleasance London); A BITE OF THE APPLE (TBG Theatre, New York); A GUIDE TO REMOVING CORPSE STAINS (York Theatre Royal); (LIFE MOULD (winner of Theatre Centre’s ‘Skylines’ showcase); and PETS CORNER (Arcola). She was fostered by OffWestEnd.com and was a member of the Royal Court  ‘Supergroup’.
