Bio
Joy is an award-winning writer and director working across film, television, theatre, radio and fiction. She is a Screen International Star of Tomorrow, a two-time Brit List nominee, one of Den Of Geek’s ‘50 Brilliant Screenwriters To Watch Out For’, a Verity Bargate Award winner, and she was mentored by Sir Kenneth Branagh through the BFI's Guiding Lights scheme.
Most recently, Joy wrote three episodes of Netflix's 2023 breakout series LOCKWOOD & CO, and she recently signed a development deal with Anton. Her previous television credits include DOCTOR WHO, THE PACT, THE WATCH and the BBC’s critically-acclaimed NICK NICKLEBY.
7 KEYS, Joy's debut feature film as writer-director, is currently in post-production, and her short films MA'AM and THE EVERLASTING CLUB have been selected for numerous international film festivals.
Joy's theatre work has been produced worldwide, including her much-loved play THE SWEET SCIENCE OF BRUISING, and she is also a prolific radio dramatist, having adapted multiple Agatha Christie titles for BBC Radio 4 early in her career.
