Neil is the doyen of silent film pianists/composers. His orchestral score for Alfred Hitchcock’s BLACKMAIL was premiered at Bologna’s Il Cinema Ritrovato in 2008 and re-mounted at the British Museum in 2012 and is regularly licensed to orchestras in UK, Europe and USA. He was also commissioned to write an orchestral score to Anthony Asquith’s film UNDERGROUND. Neil has written and presented 2 series for BBC4, the first on the history of film music and the second on the history of song. He has completed 2 adaptations for actors and orchestra for BBC Radio 4 namely THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS, and A CHRISTMAS CAROL.
