Ahmed Roy

Ahmed is a Birmingham-based writer and director working across drama and comedy. His award-winning short film The Thought of You won the Perfect 10 Award at the Mumbai Film Festival and has amassed over one million views online.

Ahmed recently served as 2nd Unit Director on BBC Three’s Man Like Mobeen (Series 4) and ITVX’s G’wed, bringing a strong visual and performance-led approach to fast-turnaround scripted production. His original series Best Buds is currently in development, optioned by Tiger Aspect, and his drama A’isha was developed with BlackLight TV for Channel 4’s On the Edge.

His Birmingham-set drama Brummie reached the final sift of BBC Writersroom, and Ahmed brings extensive on-set experience from his work as a unit and location manager on productions including You Don’t Know Me and Man Like Mobeen. Fluent in English and Arabic, and drawing on Asian, African, Arab and white heritage, Ahmed’s work is shaped by global influences and lived experience across multiple cultures. He holds a BA in Visual Communication (Moving Image).
