Anna Pool

Anna Pool makes music-led theatre. She works in the UK and internationally across theatre, folk music and opera.

Composing includes Ada & The Code Crusaders (English Touring Opera), A Christmas Carol (Barn Theatre, Cirencester), More…Ghost Stories by Candlelight (HighTide/Shakespeare’s Globe), Return of the Unknown (Marlowe Theatre) and Medieval Miracles (Eastern Angles).  She is currently MD/Arranger of The Manningtree Witches (Mercury Theatre/Frantic Assembly).

As a founding member of genre-bending folk quartet Wise Woman, Anna’s songs have been heard far and wide, from Radio 3 to Aldeburgh Festival to Celtic Connections.   

Anna started out as a director. Her work includes Acis and Galatea, The Runaway Royal (Opera North), These Wondering Stones (Barbican), SCRAWW (Hall for Cornwall) and Dust Child (English Touring Opera).  Her production of Kurt Weill’s  Lady in the Dark (Opera Zuid) won Place de l’Opera’s Opera of the Year 2022 in the Netherlands and her Mozart Double Bill (Pop Up Opera)was a Finalist at the 2019 Off West End Awards.
