Ian West

Ian is a graduate of the Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts in London and has a career spanning more than 28 years across theatre, film, and television. Throughout his career, he has established himself as a highly sought-after choreographer and intimacy director.

His noteworthy choreographic projects include The Play What I Wrote (with Tom Hiddleston, directed by Sean Foley), Emma Rice’s production of Brief Encounter, Tim Firth’s official Take That musical Greatest Days, Isobel McArthur’s Olivier Award-winning play Pride and Prejudice (sort of), and the UK tour of The Full Monty.

Ian’s intimacy work includes the UK tour of The Girl on the Train and Friends! The Musical Parody, as well as screen productions including HBO’s Half Man, The Agency for Paramount+ starring Michael Fassbender, and Sunny Dancer starring Bella Ramsey.

Ian can be engaged solely as an intimacy director or choreographer, or work alongside an existing movement team. Alternatively, he can combine both skill sets when a production requires integrated movement/choreography and intimacy support.
