Bio
Jennifer Lunn is an award-winning playwright working across theatre and screen. Her debut play Es & Flo won the Popcorn Writing Award in 2020 and the Nancy Dean Lesbian Playwriting Award (New York) in 2022 before premiering at the Wales Millennium Centre and transferring to the Kiln Theatre, London, in 2023. The play received its Australian premiere in Sydney in early 2026.
Her play Core, written to be performed in BSL and spoken English, was shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Playwriting, the Papatango New Writing Prize and the RSC 37 Plays Competition.
Jennifer’s other work for the stage includes Terroir, written for the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama’s new writing season in 2021, The Pilot, a near-future play exploring climate crisis and youth activism commissioned by Sherman Theatre, and Stop The Drop, written for Theatr Clwyd as part of their Curtain Up anthology season to reopen the theatre after Covid. She wrote the book, and co-wrote the lyrics with composer Gus Gowland, for A Song to Save Us, a musical commissioned as part of the national Playhouse Project and performed by primary school children across the UK in 2025.
Jennifer is currently writing the book and lyrics for Pinocchio, a Christmas family musical for children aged 3–6 commissioned by Sherman Theatre. The production will tour Wales over the Christmas period and will be performed in both Welsh and English, with Welsh translation by Hannah Jarman.
Her television credits include BBC Voices (Wales) 2024, assistant script editor on the writers’ room for Atomic (Pulse Films), and writer on the development of a high-end television series for S4C. She is currently developing a pilot script for television.
Alongside her writing, Jennifer works as a dramaturg and director.
