Jonathan founded and for 27 years directed ACE funded multi-award-winning touring company, Red Shift.  His work includes crowd-embedded performance, pocket musicals, circus, reinventions of classics and muscular new work for UK and International touring.  Jonathan has written copiously for the BBC including a Prix Italia prize winning 1984, original dramas for the Arthur Miller centenary (starring Ed Harris) and the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.  Recent theatre work includes TALE OF TWO CITIES: BLOOD FOR BLOOD  (Hong Kong and Edinburgh Festival), and ambitious live site-specific Creation Theatre productions of 1984, BRAVE NEW WORLD, DON QUIXOTE and THE TIME MACHINE (in collaboration with The Wellcome Institute).  He is currently adapting Dickens’ THE SIGNALMAN, updating the stage play GASLIGHT and creating a new Brighton-set version of IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE, all for broadcast on BBC SOUNDS.  In March 2023 he returns to HK to revive his stage version of TALE OF TWO CITIES.  “fine theatre, sincerely performed in an innovative style… could fit into international festivals or [be] produced in a theatre anywhere.” - Edinburgh Fringe Review
