Bio

Kaamil is a writer for TV, film and theatre. He wrote all episodes of Horror-Comedy COUNT ABDULLA, which was first broadcast on ITVX in June 2023, and produced by Fudge Park. Kaamil was a 2022 Broadcast Hot Shot and was signed to a First Look TV development deal with Paramount in 2021. Additionally, he is developing a host of original ideas including musical comedy drama SOUTHALL STORY with Silverprint Pictures, an exciting book-to-screen adaptation with Red Planet Pictures, Kenyan-set thriller MUZUNGU with Paramount, and medieval comedy THE SARACEN with Bonafide Films.

In 2019 he was selected for the UGC Writer’s Campus at the Series Mania festival in Lille, France where he developed his drama SOVEREIGN which is now in development with Three Tables Productions. Later, in 2020 he was commissioned to write SHAHID’S FIRST SHAVE for the Sparks monologue series broadcast on BBC iPlayer (BBC Children’s Productions). He was previously part of a writers’ room for CBBC show CLASS DISMISSED and wrote a monologue for BBC Asian Network and the BBC Writersroom called MOHEEZ MEANS BUSINESS. Kaamil wrote and directed his first short film THE COLOUR OF MILK in 2018 which premiered at the BFI Southbank. Additionally, Kaamil’s first stage play ALLAH’S OWN COUNTRY was written on the Soho Theatre Writers' Lab where it was shortlisted for the Tony Craze Award and later went on to win the RAFTA award.

A graduate of both the London Film School and Cambridge University, Kaamil is passionate about telling the stories of the Indian and Pakistani diasporas.
