Kiran Benawra

Kiran is a writer and producer. She has worked on productions for BBC One, BBC Two and MTV and she is the creator of Channel 4’s online comedy entertainment series RAGE ROOM. Kiran’s TV pilot was included in the BFI Postroom’s Top Picks of 2016 and she was a finalist in the comedy writing category at the Funny Women Awards 2017. More recently, Kiran wrote and co-produced a series of comedy shorts released on IGTV with Cariad Productions. Kiran's audio comedy pilot SOUNDS GOOD was developed by Audible Presents, in partnership with LAMDA and is available to listen to on Audible now. 

Kiran was part of The Mono Box’s and Hampstead Theatre’s PLAYSTART scheme and her short play COLD FEET AND BACON SANDWICHES was published by Oberon Books. Kali Theatre produced Kiran’s monologue THE THREE Ps as part of South Asian Heritage Month 2020, and her short film SCREAMS was included in The Mono Box’s Reset the Stage 2021 project. Kiran's play COOKIE JAR was developed with Abeille Theatre and ran at The Space in 2022. Kiran's latest play GIRL POP! is playing at The Gilded Balloon, Edinburgh Fringe Festival throughout August 2025.  

Kiran is also currently working on a myriad of short films and is developing her latest play and TV pilot.
