Bio
Louis Emmitt-Stern is an award-winning writer and director from Gibraltar based in London. His play Slippery won Soho Theatre’s Tony Craze Award, and received its world premiere at Omnibus Theatre, London, starring John McCrea and Perry Williams.
His debut play I Fucked You in My Spaceship received a critically acclaimed, sold-out premiere at VAULT Festival, winning the Origins Award for Outstanding New Work. Louis was called "a rising-star playwright" by Time Out. It subsequently transferred to Soho Theatre, London, and has since been produced in New York and South Africa.
Louis’ adaptation of Mansfield Park, from the novel by Austen, premiered in a site-specific production at Jane Austen’s House, Chawton. His other plays include Snakes and Ladders (Southwark Playhouse) and Is This Us Fading Out (Watford Palace Theatre). His plays are published by Nick Hern Books.
Louis trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (MFA), Soho Theatre Writers Lab, Soho Writers Alumni Group, Lyric Hammersmith Young Directors Course, and Oxford Playhouse Playmakers. He is currently developing a slate of new projects for stage and screen.
