Bio

Matthew Iliffe is an award-winning theatre director, experienced in new writing, classic texts and musicals. He has directed multiple critically acclaimed world premieres including Foam by Harry McDonald at Finborough Theatre, Breeding by Barry McStay at the King’s Head Theatre and Bacon by Sophie Swithinbank, which has enjoyed acclaimed runs at the Finborough Theatre, Riverside Studios, Summerhall Edinburgh, Bristol Old Vic, SoHo Playhouse NYC and in Korean translation at YES24 Stage, Hall 3, Seoul. For his work on Bacon, he won the Best Director of a Play at the Off West End Theatre Awards. This summer, he will direct the world premiere of Ellie Keel's debut play, Skye: A Thriller which plays at Summerhall for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Matthew holds a BA (Hons) in Theatre & Performance Studies from the University of Bristol, where he graduated with First Class honors. He trained through the StoneCrabs Young Directors Programme and on the National Theatre Directors' Course.
