Bio
Max is an award-winning writer for stage and screen, fascinated with cities and characters trying to navigate an increasingly absurd world. His hit ★★★★★ play, RAINER ('Brilliant' - The Guardian, 'Original, bold Writing' - The Stage, 'Voted Best Show of the Year' - Spy in the Stalls) about a voyeuristic delivery rider, is in development with production company Featuristic Films as a mini-TV series. His recent, critically-acclaimed play, UNION ('Acidly Funny' - Financial Times) is being developed for BBC Radio Four as a radio drama; both plays are published by Methuen. Max's work has also been staged at the Arcola Theatre, Theatre 503, The Old Red Lion Theatre and the King's Head Theatre for sold out runs.
Max is also working on several original screenplays for Film and TV, such as OLYMPIA, a screenplay about East-London hipsters living in a world threatened by war. His play GHOST FRUIT has been optioned and commissioned as a feature film by Pennway Films. His new play NIGHT CITY, a symphony of invisible people, is optioned and will be staged at the Southwark Playhouse for four weeks in February, 2026. Max is also developing STORMS OVER PECKHAM, a blackly comic play about people and community, searching for meaning in a dissolving world.
Max was also a finalist for the Nick Darke Award, the Off West End Awards, Theatre Uncut's Political Playwriting Award and Samuel French's Off-Broadway Awards. He also teaches screenwriting and playwriting at the Met Film School and Central School of Speech of Drama on their Masters courses.
