Nico Rao Pimparé

Nico Rao Pimparé is a British-Indian-French writer/director for film and theatre. He was previously a Physicist at Imperial College London.

For stage, he has directed critically acclaimed productions at the Tobacco Factory, Seven Dials Playhouse, Arcola Theatre, King’s Head Theatre, Bunker Theatre, Underbelly and Theatre N16. He has also directed shorter pieces at the Young Vic (Freshworks), La Maison Libre (Paris, France) and Voice4Thought International Festival (Dakar, Senegal). 

His production of DIARY OF A SOMEBODY ran for six weeks to sold out audiences at the Seven Dials Playhouse in the West End. It received four Off-West End Award nominations alongside outstanding reviews, including ★★★★★ by Ryan Gilbey in The Guardian.

Nico also regularly directs student productions at LAMDA, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and East 15.

For screen, his shorts THE START OF NOTHING and THEY JUST USE THE SKY have screened at BAFTA-qualifying festivals and won awards in the UK and abroad. His feature film LOVE AND OTHER PHENOMENA won Industrial Scripts’ Titan Awards for Best Pitch, and is in development with the BFI. 

He is currently a BAFTA Connect member and a mentee on the Directors UK Inspire programme, mentored by Amit Gupta.
