Poonam is a director for stage and screen.

Poonam is currently working on a Female Horror short SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME and Magical Realism Horror Feature THREE with writer Jill O’Halloran.

As Writer/ Director: Features in development - Comedy IN NATURAL CHILDBIRTH WE TRUST and Thriller LAKE AT SUMMER.

Poonam’s Film London produced short film HOME GIRL by Iman Qureshi was officially selected for over 45 film festivals internationally, including BFI FLARE and UNDERWIRE.

Poonam recently completed her first episodes of HOLLYOAKS for Lime Pictures.

For theatre, Poonam most recently directed a HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA adaptation set in Punjab, 1984 with Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti and NOOR at Southwark Playhouse for which she received an MGC Futures Award. Other current projects include EMPIRE OF THE MIND by Satinder Chohan.

Her theatre company, 3Fates, with Alice Malia and Dina Mousawi, used a raw and poetic DIY devising style to tell personal stories, including 'RETURN', (NT Studio, The Yard, Soho Theatre) 'TO CLOSE YOUR EYES IS TO TRAVEL' The Yard Theatre and ‘DARK RIVER’ Hightide Genesis Lab.

Passionate about new work, Poonam has directed for theatre companies including National Theatre Studio, Kali, Hampstead, Royal Court, Soho Theatre, Theatre Royal Stratford East, The Yard Theatre, Birmingham Rep, Manchester Contact and Glasgow Arches.

Poonam’s training includes the National Theatre Studio Directors Programme, Staff Directing at the Young Vic, Royal Shakespeare Company and West End. She is an Alumni of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, NY, a BAFTA Connect member and the National Film and Television School. Poonam was a WFTV Mentee in 2021 mentored by Jane Villiers.
