Bio

Roni Neale is a writer & dramatist from Dorset, living in London and working nationally. They were part of Paines Plough & Theatre Royal Plymouth's mentored Tour the Writer programme in 2024-25, and were invited onto Hampstead Theatre's INSPIRE writer's group of 2025-26, led by Simon Stephens.

Roni's most recent work includes Cinderella (2025-6), a new family musical for the Rose Theatre Kingston, co-written with Chris Bush (Standing at the Sky's Edge, Otherland) and composed by Matt Winkworth (The Last Noel, The Assassination of Katie Hopkins). In 2025, their play Laika was given a rehearsed reading at Camden People's Theatre as part of their Every Body Festival of disabled-led work (supported by Paines Plough & Theatre Royal Plymouth).

In 2022, Roni was awarded an Arts Council England DYCP grant to develop a sustainable writing practice as a disabled writer. Their debut play, Indecent Acts, was commissioned by Shire Hall Museum in Dorset as part of a British Museum touring exhibition. Alongside writing, they also work as a stage manager, something that heavily informs their practice as a dramatist.
