Ahmed Roy

Ahmed is a writer and director based in Birmingham. He is fluent in Arabic and is proud of his mixed cultural heritage. Ahmed has a BA in Visual Communication in Moving Image from BCU and a strong background working in TV in both pre- and post-production on shows such as BBC3’s MAN LIKE MOBEEN, DOCTORS and SHAKESPEARE AND HATHAWAY. Ahmed wrote and directed the award-winning short film THE THOUGHT OF YOU in 2017 starring Kalki Koechlin and Gulshan Devaiah. The film won the Perfect 10 award at Mumbai Film Festival and has received over 750,000 views on YouTube. He is currently developing further film ideas and is being supported and mentored by Sundance-Mahindra Global Filmmaker Award winner Shonali Bose. For TV, Ahmed is currently developing his sitcom pilot BEST BUDS with actor and co-writer Tez Ilyas, alongside various TV drama ideas and a couple of feature film specs.
