Carmen Nasr


Carmen is a British-Lebanese writer. Her latest play THE MALADIES will premiere at the Almeida Theatre in January 2021 performed by the Almeida Young Company as part of their socially distanced season. Carmen is also one of seven writers chosen to be part of the second year of the Genesis Almeida, New Playwrights, Big Plays scheme. Her play THE CLIMBERS was due to premiere at Theatre by the Lake directed by Guy Jones in 2020. In 2017 Carmen was a winner of the Channel 4 Playwrights’ Scheme, on which she was attached to the Finborough Theatre, where her play DUBAILAND previously premiered and she also runs the monthly writers group. In 2018 she was commissioned by Kiln Theatre to write a play for their young company, LET KILBURN SHAKE, directed by Harry Mackrill. She was previously a member of the Orange Tree Writers Collective and the Royal Court’s Playwriting Group. In 2015 her play THE HOUSE OF MY FATHER was long-listed for the Bruntwood Prize and Carmen was shortlisted for’s prestigious Adopt a Playwright Award. Carmen has an MA in Playwriting from Royal Holloway University.
