Cress is Artistic Director of the political new writing company Offstage Theatre (www.offstage.org.uk) as well as a freelance theatre director.  In 2006 her first production was the critically acclaimed HOME by Gbolahan Obisesan on the Beaumont Estate, Leyton. Other UK productions include AMPHIBIANS by Steve Waters based on interviews with former Olympic swimmers (6 Offie Nominations including Best Director); WALKING THE TIGHTROPE a collection of short plays about freedom of expression by writers including Caryl Churchill, April DeAngelis, Mark Ravenhill, and Timberlake Wertenbaker; SEPTIMUS BEAN AND HIS AMAZING MACHINE by Adam Peck which transformed the Unicorn Theatre foyer into a playground (Best Production for Under 7s, Offie nomination); ALMOST BUT NOT QUITE (Tricycle) by Somalia Seaton; and the UK premiere of CAUGHT by Christopher Chen at the Arcola (Offie Nominated).
