Bio

Guy is an experienced, Olivier-nominated director and dramaturg.

He directs new plays and contemporary revivals, bringing work from the canon to new audiences.

Guy is the Associate Director Orange Tree. From 2014-2022 he was the theatre’s Literary Associate. At the Orange Tree, Guy has revitalised the theatre for a new generation, bringing projects like POMONA, AN OCTOROON and JESS & JOE FOREVER to the theatre’s programme, while developing audiences and artists. He runs the theatre’s Writers Collective, with alumni including Joe White, Sonali Bhattacharyya, Ross Willis and Jade Anouka.

He has previously been a Creative Associate at Headlong, where he worked with writers under commission and co-led Origins, the director development programme.

From 2011-2015 he was an Associate Artist at Company Three, working as commissioner and dramaturg on collaborations between young people and playwrights, and founding Speakeasy, a playwriting programme for young people. In 2012 he directed Alice Birch’s NOT BLUE, NOT GREEN, BUT GREY for them at the National Theatre.

As Associate Director: VIGIL (Mechanimal, Bristol Ferment, Pound Arts & Summerhall).

As Staff Director: SAINT GEORGE AND THE DRAGON (National Theatre, dir. Lyndsey Turner).

As Assistant Director: CYMBELINE (RSC, dir. Melly Still).

Guy’s work opens up the theatre-making process to people whose access to theatre may have been limited. He has worked as a director and a facilitator for companies including Chickenshed, Synergy Theatre Project, Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust, Ambassadors Theatre Group and Theatre in Prisons and Probation. He is an Education Associate Practitioner for the Royal Shakespeare Company for whom he has delivered work in Stratford-upon-Avon, nationally and in China.
