Guy Jones


Guy is an experienced and passionate director and dramaturg. He directs new plays and contemporary revivals which bring work from the canon to new audiences. He is the Orange Tree Theatre’s Literary Associate where he leads the OT New Artists scheme, guiding the development and programming of new plays at the theatre. He also runs the OT’s Writers Collective, through which he has mentored over forty playwrights, many of whom are now important names on the national playwriting scene. Prior to this, he was an Associate Artist for Islington Community Theatre (now Company Three) where he commissioned playwrights including Alice Birch, Inua Ellams and Dawn King to make work in collaboration with ICT’s members. In 2012 he directed Alice Birch’s NOT GREEN BLUE BUT GREY for ICT and the National Theatre.

Guy’s work opens up the theatre-making process to people whose access to theatre may have been limited. He has worked as a director and a facilitator for companies including Chickenshed, Synergy Theatre Project, Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust, Ambassadors Theatre Group and Theatre in Prisons and Probation. He is an Education Associate Practitioner for the Royal Shakespeare Company for whom he has delivered work in Stratford-upon-Avon, nationally and in China.
