Bio

Guy is an award-winning freelance theatre director and highly acclaimed acting coach. Between 2013 and 2023 he was co-founder with his wife, Rachel Tucker, and Artistic Director in partnership with Rob Harris of the Bridgehouse TheatreSE20. 

He started his theatre career by training in stage management at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He worked at RSC, ATC and Old Vic and got his first assistant directing post at the Young Vic. He formed his theatre company, Company of Clerks in 1990 and directed many of its acclaimed productions including THE MASTER AND MARGARITA. 

Guy then became a Staff Director at the National Theatre and worked with directors including Howard Davies, Jeremy Sams and Stephen Daldry. He also worked with Out of Joint and the Royal Court on notable productions including SHOPPING & F***ING, THREE SISTERS, and THE BREAK OF DAY. 

Recent directing credits include: JOHN & JEN (54Below, New York, & Southwark Playhouse) by Andrew Lippa & Tom Greenwald, the multi-award-winning THRILL ME: THE LEOPOLD AND LOEB STORY by Stephen Dolginoff (Tristan Bates Theatre & Charing Cross Theatre, Arcola, Other Palace, Korea Arts, Edinburgh Festival, UK Tour).

At the Bridgehouse TheatreSE20 he directed A CHRISTMAS CAROL, PLAID TIDINGS, IT’S A WONDEFUL LIFE. His productions of TWELFTH NIGHTand MACBETH also toured to international festivals. 

Guy has recently returned from an extended stay in New York where he directed SEVEN SPOTS ON THE SUN (Zimmerman) for American Academy of Dramatic Arts for their final graduate series in 2022, led a series of workshops at NYCDA, and most recently directed THE SEAGULL for Company at AADA.
