Katie is an experienced and award-winning director and the co-artistic director of Paines Plough with Charlotte Bennett. She has worked across a wide variety of productions both overseas and on national tours, including multiple productions with York Theatre Royal and Pilot Theatre with whom she was Associate Director until 2017 and Paines Plough since her appointment in 2019. Katie has directed a number of large-scale, community-cast pieces including EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE: THE YORK SUFFRAGETTES (York Theatre Royal), THE SEVEN AGES OF PATIENCE by Chinonyerem Odimba for (Kiln Theatre) and THE MOLD RIOTS by Bethan Marlow (Theatr Clwyd). She is equally passionate about championing new voices and directing more intimate pieces including the trio of plays produced by Paines Plough’s Roundabout 2021 season including HUNGRY by Chris Bush, new musical BLACK LOVE by Chinonyerem Odimba (co-directed with Odimba for the original production) and REALLY BIG AND REALLY LOUD by Phoebe Eclair-Powell. The latter in the trio speaks to another string on Katie’s bow in her work for young audiences, in the summer of 2018 Katie directed Bryony Lavery’s adaptation of SWALLOWS & AMAZONS for Storyhouse Theatre and BABE at Mercury Theatre Colchester.

In 2017 Katie's production of Satinder Chohan's MADE IN INDIA was nominated for an OffWestEnd award and won the Eastern Eye Theatre and Culture Award for Best Production. Later, in 2019 Katie received a UK Theatre Award nomination as Best Director with her production of MY MOTHER SAID I NEVER SHOULD at Theatre By The Lake.
