Simon’s current commissions include an original screenplay about the last days of JANE AUSTEN (Ripple World Pictures/Screen Ireland) and the new REBUS stage play he is writing with Ian Rankin (Faraway Productions). The 2021/2022 theatre season will premiere his new versions of DAVID COPPERFIELD (Barn Theatre, Cirencester), Michael Morpurgo’s PRIVATE PEACEFUL (Nottingham Playhouse), Christopher Isherwood’s A SINGLE MAN (Troupe Theatre) and Noel Coward’s POMP & CIRCUMSTANCE (Theatre Royal Bath Productions.)

 

Simon produced and wrote the screenplay of JOURNEY’S END (Lionsgate/BFI 2018.) His extensive stage adaptations include PRIDE & PREJUDICE (Regent’s Park/Guthrie Minneapolis), ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND (TMA Award winner), Salman Rushdie’s MIDNIGHT’S CHILDREN and Ted Hughes’s TALES FROM OVID – both for the RSC where he was Literary Manager. He has also been Literary Manager for London’s Gate Theatre, Artistic Director of Bristol Old Vic, and has worked as a development producer for Tiger Aspect Productions and BBC Drama.
