Teunkie van der Sluijs


Teunkie is a theatre director working in the UK and Europe in main house and mid-scale (inter)national touring work. He currently works with HOME Manchester on international repertoire, and was course leader in directing at the University of Manchester

Teunkie will direct the European premiere of BENEATHA’S PLACE (Netherlands main house tour) and the Netherlands premiere of THE MOUNTAINTOP in 2018. Recent work includes A RAISIN IN THE SUN for two main house tours of the Netherlands and WATERDRAGERS for regional producing house Het Zuidelijk Toneel. From 2014-2016 he was Resident Director for global entertainment company Imagine Nation, where he oversaw ANNE: THE DIARIES OF ANNE FRANK ON STAGE for Theater Amsterdam, translated the musical SKY and worked on the development of the HUNGER GAMES stage production.

Since 2008, Teunkie has led Anglo-Dutch company Studio Dubbelagent, directing LUNGS (Compagnietheater Amsterdam & tour) and YASSER (Assembly Rooms Edinburgh; Arcola Theatre London; Chopin Theatre Chicago & Royal Theatre The Hague). Other directing includes WINTER (Orange Tree) and WOMEN LAUGHING (Old Red Lion Theatre).
