Zara Nunn is a composer, lyricist, writer and musical director working in theatre.
Most recently Zara was commissioned by The Canales Project and the University of Wolverhampton in partnership with the UN Decade of Women to write a song for the HEAR HER SONG initiative. Zara performed the UK premiere of her song, SANTA ROSA SUNSET at the gala performance in Wolverhampton in June.
She has also recently been commissioned by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music to write 5 new pieces for their next exam syllabus to be published in 2020.
Zara has received 2 consecutive funding awards from the PRS for Music Foundation. The first supported her to write, compose, orchestrate and produce the first draft of her first musical, IN VERSIONS, which was showcased in March 2017. The second enabled her to write and present a new cabaret show, ZARA NUNN: LIVE AT ZEDEL which she presented with a 4-piece band and 6 guest singers in July 2018.
Other recent professional engagements include composer for GENESIS INC (Hampstead Theatre) CINDERELLA (Oxford Playhouse) for which she was nominated for Best MD in the GB Panto awards. Other composer and/or MD credits include Royal Theatre, Northampton, Everyman Cheltenham, Watford Palace, Birmingham Stage Company, Central School of Speech and Drama, Trinity Laban, Arts Educational and Mountview.
In addition to her professional composing and MD engagements, Zara has worked extensively in music and theatre education and specialised in major large-scale devising and performance projects both in the UK and overseas.
