Melina is a working class British Iranian writer and director based in West London. She has been awarded a 2022 The National Theatre/Peter Shaffer Commission with Tamasha Theatre and is currently a Tamasha Director.
Melina aims to create work that has meaning to her and to make an impact with her audiences despite their backgrounds and class. As a woman of colour, Melina wants to showcase underrepresented individuals and cultures. She believes diversity is a kaleidoscope.
Directing credits include ALL THE HAPPY THINGS (Theatre 503), PASSION FRUIT (New Diorama), VITAMIN D (Rosemary Branch Theatre) and as Assistant Director she is currently working on BAGHDADDY (Royal Court), previous credits include ORFEUS: A HOUSE MUSIC OPERA (Young Vic), CTRL ALT DELETE (Lyric Hammersmith). For her writing Melina has been longlisted for the BBC Script Room 2021 and The Women’s Prize In Playwriting.
